NOUN Commissions Offa Community Study Centre



The National Open University of Nigeria recently commissioned a community Study Centre in Offa.

The Study Centre making 55 Study centre of NOUN study centres was commission by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Vincent Ado Tenebe at Offa on Thursday 27th November 2014.

The event attracted dignitaries such as the the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Vincent Ado Tenebe, Oloffa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Oloyede Gbadamosi, President of Offa Decendant Union, NOUN DVC, NOUN Registrar, NOUN Centre Directors, Other Staffs of NOUN in various Centre and members of the PRESS. The Mass Communication Students of NOUN Ilorin Study Centre and representatives of NOUN Students Development Forum (N.S.D.F) were not left out.

The Vice chancellor after the commisioning handed the admission letter to the First Students of the Study centre Oba Mufutau  Gbadamosi and others.






NOUN holds 1st MACOSA DAY



The Mass Communication Students Association (MACOSA) National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Ilorin Study Centre on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th November 2014 held its 1st MACOSA DAY; it featured Seminar, Workshop, Quiz Competition, Beauty Contest and Dinner/Award Night.
The two days event took place at the Nigerian Union of Journalist Press Centre Auditorium in Ilorin. Hon. Daniel Ayantoye, Macosa President in his address explained why MACOSA Day was organized. He said the event was aimed at creating a platform of interaction among Students and Guest Speakers.
He added that it is part of the activities of the association to organize academic and social events, skills acquisition, training and programmes like Macosa Day to enhance study in the institution. Also Noted that the visit of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Vincent Ado Tenebe to Ilorin Study Centre on the 27th of November, is an indication that the University’s’ Management have the Students welfare at heart and as such urges the members to keep the good work going by shunning exam malpractice, cultism and all social vices that could defame them and bring disrepute to the association.
The Ilroin centre director, Mr. Micheal Omoniyi Abikoye in his address during the visit of the Vice Chancellor, commended the MACOSA executives and members of the association for their determination and effort demonstrated in welcoming the Vice Chancellor and organizing of the 1st Macosa Day.

However, one of the beautiful excitement of MACOSA DAY is the Quiz competition, which took an exclusive ride with contestants from various institutions Mass Communication Departments within kwara state such as University of Ilorin, Kwara State University, Alhikma University, Kwara State Polytechnic and College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies(CAILS) and the host NOUN Ilorin Study centre. In the final analysis, Al-hikma came 1st, Unilorin 2nd and NOUN 3rd position.

The beauty contest was also another exciting experience as Miss. Ella George stood out among two other contestants and emerge the Miss Macosa 2015.

The event was brought to a close with dinner/award night where some students, lecturers, GMs and MD of media stations were in attendance. 
Certificates and Awards were presented to those who have performed well for MACOSA.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Vincent Ado Tenebe Visits Ilorin Study Centre

VICE CHANCELLOR, PROF. VINCENT ADO TENEBE VISIT ILORIN


The Vice Chancellor of National Open University of Nigeria, Professor Vincent Ado Tenebe paid a visit to Ilorin Study Centre on Thursday 27th, November 2014. The Visit which was came after the commissioning of NOUN Offa Community Study Centre, Offa.

Although, the students just started their break after the just concluded examination, but It was a memorable experience for the students presents, especially the Mass Communication Students Association (MACOSA) members welcome the Vice Chancellor at the Ilorin International Airport ilorin on Wednesday 26th November 2014.




The Vice Chancellor in an interview with our correspondent, Patience Odife express his delight and appreciation to the Mass Communication Students for the warm welcome. 
While addressing the students and various Associations in ilorin study centre, Prof. Tenebe enjoy them to be an ambassador of good behaviour while carrying out their activities. Adding that NOUN objecting to Unionism is based on the wide nature of the institution in terms of age group and professionalism. 

He however, commend the effort of the Students and most especially MACOSA for their Skillful operation in the centre. In concluding the address, he gave his support to Centre, MACOSA, NSDF, LAW Society and Muslim Students present at the event.

The Centre Director, Mr. M.O Abikoye in his address appreciated the Vice Chancellor and wish him a safe trip back.

Some questions raised at the event were addressed by the VC and some he promise to work on.
